Deputy Mayor Peter Bordignon Runs for Mayor

Peter Bordignon, the current Deputy Mayor of The Town of The Blue Mountains, has formally announced his candidacy for Mayor.

With the current Mayor not seeking re‑election, Peter brings direct, ongoing experience in municipal leadership and a detailed understanding of the work currently underway across the municipality.

“As Deputy Mayor, I have been closely involved in council decision‑making, long‑term planning, and collaboration with staff, residents, and our regional and provincial partners,” Bordignon said. “This role has provided me with a clear view of the challenges and opportunities ahead, as well as the importance of maintaining stability and informed leadership during a period of transition.”

In municipal government, continuity refers to preserving institutional knowledge, ensuring stable governance, and maintaining momentum on multi‑year initiatives. With direct involvement in key files—ranging from infrastructure planning and financial oversight to intergovernmental coordination—Bordignon has been part of the decision‑making processes that shape the town’s current direction.

“Effective leadership requires a strong grasp of ongoing work and a commitment to responsible governance,” Bordignon added. “My experience as Deputy Mayor has prepared me to support a smooth transition and uphold the consistency needed to keep our municipality moving forward effectively.”
