AND UPGRADE TO PLUNGE AQUATIC CENTRE
Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe-Grey is pleased to announce that the Ontario Government is investing $166,636.00 to protect jobs and upgrade the Plunge! Aquatic Centre. This investment is part of the province’s $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), a provincewide initiative that helps communities revitalize local facilities, grow the economy and promote active, healthy living across Ontario.
“This is a great announcement for our community and an important investment in the recreational infrastructure of The Blue Mountains,“ said MPP Saunderson. “For several years, Plunge! Aquatic Centre has been a place of joy and activity for local families and visitors alike. This funding will ensure it continues to serve our region, support local tourism, and contribute to the economic vitality of Simcoe-Grey.”
This project will breathe new life into the Aquatic Centre. Upgrades include replacing the Water Slide, Action Pool Deck and Heat Trace System and renovations to the Multi-Purpose room.
“At a time when Ontario families are facing rising costs due to tariffs, our government is proud to support organizations focused on delivering better services for people while breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for children and young people,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. “With investments in infrastructure like this, we are protecting Ontario jobs, strengthening our communities and building a more resilient and self-reliant economy.”
CSRIF is a key part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario workers, businesses and families by unleashing the economy and getting more shovels in the ground, with a historic $200 billion investment to build highways, hospitals, transit, schools and other critical infrastructure across the province.
“For 20 years, Plunge has been a valued community hub and important tourism driver, welcoming more than one million guests while offering swim lessons, lifeguard training, and employment opportunities for local youth. We’re grateful to Minister Lumsden and the Ministry of Sport for their support and look forward to building on this legacy for the next 20 years.”- Patti Kendall, President, Blue Mountain Village Association
