Crystal Meth Task Force takes on new role

The Crystal Meth Task Force is expanding its mandate to tackle complex health issues surrounding drug and alcohol use to reduce harms associated with substance use in Bruce and Grey Counties. As part of the transition, the Grey Bruce Task Force on Crystal Meth and Other Drugs is changing its name to the Community Drug & Alcohol Strategy.

At a special meeting of the Committee of the Whole, held Wed Nov 8th Council received a staff report regarding the hiring of a new CAO. The report listed 5 options and when they returned from a closed session the consensus was to choose Option 1. At the special Meeting of Council on Wed Nov 15th at 11am Council voted in favour of Option 5.

County Approves ATVs on Roads After One-Year Pilot

Direct Election for Warden of Grey County?

Grey County Council learned more about the process and timelines for moving to a direct election of warden. This change would require triple majority support (majority of county councillors, and the majority of local municipalities representing the majority or residents). The report will be shared with the local municipalities and Grey County will request their decisions by October 16, 2017. Grey County will discuss direct election of the warden again at the October 26 committee of the whole meeting.
