“Earlier this year, after careful consideration of the options available to us to overcome our space, accessibility and efficiency issues, we seized the opportunity to purchase the former Piper’s property on King Street,” says BVO Executive Director Carolyn Letourneau. “Now that our current building is sold, we are able to move forward with renovating the new space to suit our needs. Very soon, we will be choosing a contractor, and hope to be moved in just after Easter in 2018.”
Representing an exciting chapter in its 30-year history, BVO’s new location will offer an efficient and functional space from which to continue “making good
things happen in our community”, including single level accessibility, plenty of parking, on-site storage, volunteer gathering/meeting space, staff office space,
and both a retail and sorting space for the Treasure Shop.
The sale of BVO’s current building - mortgage-free and owned by the organization - will help to considerably pay down a mortgage required for the purchase of the King Street property. BVO has launched a relocation fundraising campaign to further pay down this mortgage and renovate the new site.
Donations to this fund will be used solely for this purpose. “This is such an exciting move for BVO!” says Carolyn Letourneau. “We are thrilled about the increased accessibility and the added convenience that customers and visitors will experience. I am confident that it will be the best place for BVO forever! “
